Most hair loss and hair growth solutions in the market either come with side effects or target only one pathway and overlook the fundamental reason contributing to hair loss. This makes expected results harder to achieve.
Introducing MitoActive™, India’s first hair growth serum that re-energises the mitochondria, activating multiple pathways to boost hair growth. Built on longevity science, it corrects one of the core causes of hair fall, decline of mitochondrial function, to result in denser hair over time. As per clinical trials, 87% people had increased hair growth in 84 days1 and hair fall was reduced by up to 95%2.
Powered by Y100™, a first-of-its-kind bioactive compound, MitoActive™ allows hair follicles to function at their optimal level by producing more cellular energy through mitochondrial biogenesis. Developed in a scientific partnership with Yuva Biosciences Inc, USA, MitoActive™ is the biggest innovation in the hair growth science to directly target follicular mitochondria for hair growth. Formulated for daily use without any side effects, MitoActive™ ensures consistent, daily use and enhanced efficacy.

Yes. MitoActiveTM can be used alongside Minoxidil. The two ingredients work through different mechanisms. Minoxidil primarily acts as a vasodilator, while MitoActive™ supports hair growth by improving mitochondrial function and cellular energy within the hair follicle. If you're using both, apply one product, allow it to absorb completely, and then apply the other, or use them at different times of the day.
However, it is worth noting that Minoxidil has numerous side-effects, including itching, redness, contact dermatitis, shedding upon starting and stopping treatment (initial and withdrawal shedding respectively), and MitoActiveTM has no known side-effects. Therefore, if they are used together, any side-effects will be attributed to Minoxidil, not MitoActiveTM.
MitoActiveTM is suitable for all scalp types, however it is a hair growth serum, and will not help with dandruff/itchiness. If you're experiencing dandruff or persistent scalp irritation, we recommend treating the underlying scalp condition alongside your hair growth routine. For that, we recommend Arata’s Anti-Dandruff range.
PCOS-related hair loss is caused by underlying hormonal imbalances that require medical evaluation and treatment. While MitoActive™ is not a treatment for PCOS itself, it can be used as a complementary topical hair growth serum to support healthier hair growth. We recommend consulting your doctor or dermatologist to address the underlying cause alongside using MitoActive™.
Hair loss associated with thyroid disorders is best managed by treating the underlying thyroid condition. MitoActive™ can be used as a complementary topical treatment to support healthier hair growth, but it is not a substitute for medical treatment. We recommend consulting your doctor for appropriate evaluation and treatment.
Can I use MitoActive™ after a hair transplant?
Yes, but only after your surgeon or dermatologist advises that your scalp has healed sufficiently. Since recovery timelines vary between individuals, always follow your doctor's recommendations before introducing topical hair growth products.
It depends on the cause of the bald spots. MitoActive™ is designed to support hair growth in areas where active hair follicles are still present. If the follicles are no longer functional or have been permanently damaged, the serum is unlikely to regrow hair. We recommend consulting a dermatologist to determine the underlying cause of the bald spots.
No. MitoActive™ requires active hair follicles to work. It is not designed to regrow hair in completely bald areas where follicles are no longer present or functional.
Yes. MitoActiveTM has been tested on Indian consumers. Arata conducted an independent consumer study across India. In addition, MitoActiveTM's main ingredient, Y100™, has been evaluated in a clinical trial conducted in India with Indian participants.
While MitoActiveTM can safely be used alongside coconut or other oils, we do not recommend pairing the two together as it might hinder the absorption of the serum. However, if you must pair it, for optimal absorption, we recommend applying the MitoActiveTM to a clean, dry scalp rather than layering it directly over hair oil. It is worth noting that MitoActiveTM also contains coconut oil, hence the benefits of coconut oil can be obtained through MitoActive™ itself.
Derma-rollers that are safe and certified for at-home use (such as titanium ones with 0.5 mm needles) can safely be paired with MitoActiveTM as long as the appropriate usage techniques and sanitation practices are followed. However, for professional-grade, in-clinic microneedling, please consult with your medical professional or dermatologist/trichologist.
Try to be as consistent as possible. Missing one application will be of little to no consequence, simply continue with your regular routine at the next scheduled application. However not following the recommended routine and dosage for a long period of time will affect your hair growth results.
For best results, apply twice daily, once in the morning, and once at night. Use regularly for at least 90 days.
This depends on how often and how much you use. Each bottle contains 30 ml of MitoActive™, and the recommended usage is 1 ml per day (0.5 ml in the morning and 0.5 ml in the evening). If used as directed, one bottle should last around 30 days. Using more than the recommended amount will make it run out sooner, while missing applications may make it last a little longer.
If you are breastfeeding, consult your doctor before using MitoActive™. They can advise whether it is appropriate based on your individual and medical circumstances.
MitoActiveTM is formulated and intended for use on the scalp. It has been developed to support scalp hair follicles and has not been evaluated for beard growth.
Yes, but only after your surgeon or dermatologist advises that your scalp has healed sufficiently. Since recovery timelines vary between individuals, always follow your doctor's recommendations before introducing topical hair growth products.
Yes you can, but only once your scalp has fully dried. Applying the serum to a wet scalp may hinder its absorption.
Yes. Apply MitoActive™ first and allow the serum to absorb and dry completely before using any styling products. This helps ensure optimal absorption and performance.
Yes. You can wash your hair daily while using MitoActive™, provided you leave the serum on the scalp and do not rinse it off. Apply the serum after washing your hair, once your scalp is dry, and for best results, use it twice daily (morning and evening) for at least 90 days.
Yes. MitoActive™ can be used alongside Redensyl-based products. The two ingredients work through different biological mechanisms, and neither ingredient has any known side-effects. If using multiple leave-in products, allow MitoActive™ to absorb and dry before applying the next product to help ensure optimal absorption and performance, or apply them at different times of the day.
MitoActive™ has undergone dermatological safety testing and the active ingredient Y100™ has undergone Human Repeat Insult Patch Test (HRIPT), with no reported itching, irritation, or burning during testing. However, if you have a known fragrance sensitivity or a history of allergic reactions to cosmetic products, we recommend performing a patch test before regular use.
Yes. MitoActive™ is suitable for colour-treated hair and is not expected to affect your hair colour.
Yes, since MitoActive™ is a scalp product, it is suitable for chemically treated hair, including hair that has been straightened, relaxed, or permed.
Yes. Since MitoActive™ is applied to the scalp rather than the hair shaft, it is suitable for use with keratin-treated hair.
MitoActive™ is formulated as a lightweight, fast-absorbing serum with an invisible finish. Most users should not experience excessive greasiness when used as directed, however individual results may vary based on climate, scalp, and hair type.
MitoActive™ can be used by adults of all ages. In younger individuals, it can be used as a preventative measure to support optimal mitochondrial function, even before significant mitochondrial decline or visible hair loss has occurred. This is because younger individuals may experience mitochondrial decline due to factors such as stress, poor nutrition, environmental factors, or certain types of hair loss. As we age, mitochondrial function naturally declines, making mitochondrial support increasingly important.
Arata has exclusive commercialisation and distribution rights for Y100™ in India, making MitoActive™ the only product in India formulated with this proprietary mitochondrial hair growth ingredient.
MitoActive™ has not been evaluated for use during prenancy. As a precaution, it is best not to use anything during this time unless prescribed by your medical practitioner. They can advise whether it is appropriate based on your individual circumstances and medical history.
Yes, MitoActive™ may be used to support healthier hair growth after pregnancy-related hair fall has begun. However, if you are breastfeeding or have recently delivered, we recommend consulting your doctor before starting any new topical hair growth product.
