Hair fall can be a real bummer, especially if it’s a recurrent problem. It could be a result of the changing weather, stress, vitamin deficiencies, a poor diet, or even hair styling products laced with a whole host of synthetic ingredients. The list goes on! But in addition to eating plenty of greens and proteins, and working out regularly (happy hormones everyone), here’s a list of tried and tested home remedies for hair fall that actually work!
Hibiscus
Hibiscus flowers are known to nourish the hair, prevent premature greying, and control hair fall. All you have to do is crush a few flowers and add a dash of coconut oil to create a thick paste. Apply the paste on your scalp and hair, and leave it on for a few hours. Wash it off with a mild shampoo for shiny, moisturized hair.
Onion Juice
A great source of sulphur which helps in hair growth, onion juice increases collagen production and is a great way to reduce hair fall. All you have to do is chop one onion finely and squeeze out its juice. Apply the juice to your scalp and leave it on for about 20 minutes. Wash it off with a mild shampoo for healthy, glossy hair.
Green Tea
Rich in antioxidants, green tea boosts hair growth and aids circulation when applied to the scalp. Not only does it help with hair fall, but it also adds a natural lustre to your locks. Brew two or three bags of green tea in a cup of water, and massage the solution into your scalp. Leave on for as long as you like, and rinse out for a rich shine.
Scalp Massage
Our childhood memories usually involve an oil massage every Sunday, come what may. As adults, most of us no longer celebrate this traditional ritual, mostly because of our busy schedules. A regular scalp massage with cold pressed oils is known to improve blood circulation and nourish your roots. The stronger our roots are, the less hair fall you’ll have to deal with. Make sure you massage the oil in gentle, circular motions, so the oil seeps in completely. You can either leave the oil on for about 30 minutes or overnight, and then shampoo as usual.
A Mild, Cleansing Shampoo
We use shampoo so often that it becomes absolutely necessary to choose the right kind. Most mainstream shampoos are packed with parabens and other synthetic ingredients, that are harmful to your hair in the long-run. Make sure that your shampoo doesn’t contain chemical ingredients, such as SLS, Propylene Glycol, Potassium Sorbate, or artificial fragrances, as each of these harsh chemicals make your hair brittle. They can cause hair-fall and affect the natural shine and volume of your locks. So switch to a shampoo that’s 100% nature-derived, like the Arata Cleansing Shampoo, crafted with the nutrient-rich goodness of coconut oil, blueberries and Japanese Honeysuckle.
